Students and staff from the Learning Technologies program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Minnesota presented at the American Education Research Association’s 101st annual conference this year in San Antonio, TX.

Yu Hui Chang presented a paper session in the SIG-Online Teaching and Learning on behalf of the research team with Prof. Bodong Chen, Fan Ouyang and Wanying Zhou: Fostering Online Discussions Through Social Learning Analytics. Chang also served as a discussant role in the SIG-Constructivist Theory, Research, and Practice: Focus on Teacher Development and Efficacy.

Jeni Henrickson and Lana Peterson presented a roundtable session about Technology Platforms and Practices. Henrickson shared the research work with Prof. Aaron Doering about EarthXplorers: Designing Authentic Online GIS Learning for a K–12 Audience. Peterson shared the research work with Prof. Cassandra Scharber and Tiffany Nielsen-Winkelman about learning spaces: Investigating K–12 Tech-Infused Flexible Learning Spaces.

Lana Peterson also presented a paper session in the SIG-Technology, Literacy, and Content Learning with Daniel Bordwell to share their collaborative research work on digital literacy: Empowering Students to Turn Knowledge Into Action: Development of Civic Identities Through Micro-Writing Workshops.

Jeni Henrickson also presented a paper session in the Division C: 3a-Learning Environments where she discussed the research work on the WeExplore adventure learning environment: Fostering Creativity and Innovation Through Inquiry and Adventure in Online Learning Environment Design.

Yu-Hui Chang and Lana Peterson participated the SIG meeting: Computer & Internet Applications in Education where Peterson serves as a graduate student representative for 2016-2018.
