Over the past several years, LTC and Code Savvy have partnered and collaborated in many ways.  A recent collaboration includes a coauthored book chapter entitled, “Code savvy educators: A professional development model for inservice educators.” This chapter is part of the new book, Professional development for inservice teachers: Research and practices in computing education (2022) edited by Chrystalla Mouza, Anne Ottenbreit-Leftwich, and Aman Yadav. Congratulations to LTC’s Lana Peterson, Cassie Scharber, and Sarah Barksdale; and Code Savvy’s Andrea Wilson-Vazquez, and Tom Cossolino!

Abstract: In 2015, the non-profit organization, Code Savvy, launched Minnesota’s first statewide professional development experience for K–12 in-service teachers related to computer science, called the MNCodes Educator Training Program. In this chapter, we describe this program by sharing its history, identifying its guiding framework, and outlining its professional development model. We provide considerations and recommendations that may be helpful for others when designing a cohort-based PD program experience for in-service teachers.
