Undergraduate Pathways to Major in Learning Technologies (BA or BS)

Several pathways are available for undergraduate students to major in Learning Technologies and tailor their degree program to their individual needs and unique professional goals. 

A personalized bachelor’s degree with a focus, specialization, or concentration in Learning Technologies will prepare graduates to become responsible, knowledgeable, and skilled leaders in leveraging new and emerging digital technologies for learning, communication, collaboration, creativity, and productivity in their chosen career. This can be a valuable and marketable complement to a variety of career paths, including marketing, communications, business, sales, project management, journalism, human resource development, education, healthcare, non-profit and social services, creative arts, and others. 

A bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Learning Technologies focuses on the development of digital literacy and digital leadership. It allows learners to gain a critical understanding of the social, cultural, educational, and professional impacts of new and emerging technologies. Our undergraduate program of study combines conceptual knowledge with technical skills in designing creative web content, digital writing and web publishing. Students learn to curate a professional online presence, develop and sustain a personal learning network, and engage in activism toward social justice issues such as digital equity and inclusion. 

Equally importantly, core courses in Learning Technologies are flexible. They are:

  • relevant and personalized to each student’s interests and goals
  • offered online to be convenient for today’s busy students
  • accessible to distance learners. 

Contemporary topics and issues explored in core courses may include, but are not limited to, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, data sharing and privacy, cybersecurity, algorithms and bias, social media, online activism, and digital cultures. Students can choose additional elective courses that are online or on campus, depending on their preferences.
