Learning Technologies PhD candidate Jennifer Englund was involved in a collaborative effort to understand student use, awareness, and concerns of Generative Artificial Intelligence at the University of Minnesota. The effort was led by two groups: Academic Technology Support Services and Usability Services.
Dr. Rukmini M Avadhanam successfully defended her dissertation titled, “Meeting Students in the Margins: Exploring the Use of Social Annotation by Undergraduate Online Instructors" via Zoom on October 24, 2023. Her families, colleagues, faculties, and both current and former classmates joined together virtually as she presented her disseration research.
On March 23rd, LT PhD students John Bartucz and Tina Jeon participated in CEHD’s Research and Innovation Day. They showcased DataX, a K-12 justice-oriented data science education project sponsored by the National Science Foundation.
LT alumni Dr. Angel Pazurek and Dr. Suzan Koseoglu have co-authored a new publication in EdTechnica: The Open Encyclopedia of Educational Technology. Angel and Suzan began collaborating on numerous projects during their time together as Ph.D. students in the LT program and have continued to do so.

LT’s Dr. Angel Pazurek was recently a guest speaker at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), whose main campus is located in Shah Alam, the capital city of the state of Selangor in Malaysia. She was invited by Dr. Nurul Hijja Mazlan, a faculty member in the College of Computing, Informatics and Media at UiTM.
Over the past several years, LTC and Code Savvy have partnered and collaborated in many ways. LT faculty member, Dr. Angel Pazurek, recently attended the 2022 international conference of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dr. Yeng Chang, alumna of the LT Ph.D. program (2019), recently participated in a panel presentation titled, "The Intersection Between Technology and Equity" and hosted by the Teacher Educator Technology Integration (TETI) initiative in CEHD. This panel session focused on the opportunities technology provides for creating more equitable experiences in K-12 and higher ed classrooms. The three panelists brought a wide range of experiences using technology as a force to interrupt inequitable practices.
Dr. Angel Pazurek has been invited to serve as an associate editor for eLearn Magazine, an open-access, peer-reviewed publication at the intersection of online learning research and practice. It provides a space for evidence-based conversations with practical implications for higher education, K-12, corporate, government, and not-for-profit contexts.
