Angel Pazurek and Solen Feyissa recently traveled to Cairo, Egypt, for the eLearning Africa International Conference on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Development, Education, and Training. eLearning Africa is the largest gathering of online, distance, and ICT-supported education and training professionals in Africa. It brings together thought leaders from around the world to exchange ideas, enhance skills and expertise, and develop multinational and cross-industry partnerships. In addition to chairing several events, Pazurek and Feyissa also led a professional development workshop titled “Transformative Learning: An Instructional Design Workshop for Augmenting Classroom Practices with Technology,” in which education professionals representing ten countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America gathered to share ideas and inspiration. The key premise of the workshop was to contextualize innovative pedagogical practices that leverage ICTs to their fullest advantage while also honoring issues of equity, access, and cultural relevance.
