LTML captures newest MAGE institute on video for future online learning opportunities

The newest Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education (MAGE) institute hosted at the LT Media Lab provided inservice teachers with advanced training integrating geotechnology, standards-based geography content, and innovative pedagogies in the classroom. Doering, director of LTML and co-director of MAGE, kicked off the events at LTML, where teachers explored multiple geotechnologies, including ESRI’s ArcGIS software and LTML’s WeExplore online learning environment.
MAGE co-director Dr. David Lanegran just this spring retired from the geography department at Macalester College in St. Paul. In tribute to his legendary contributions to the field of geography, Doering arranged for videographer Eric Klang to capture Dr. Lanegran’s lectures at the MAGE institute this week, along with other key presentations that will be incorporated into future online learning opportunities for Minnesota K12 teachers.
MAGE offers multiple teacher workshops and institutes throughout the year. One additional institute will be held at LTML this summer: a new workshop on social science inquiry using maps as primary documents, sponsored by the Library of Congress.
