En route to winning a regional Lego League competition in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Brick Bombers (aka students Lukas Hruby, Jake Swanson, Ian Wirta, and Zach Wirta) stopped by the LT Media Lab to interview director Aaron Doering about the future of learning. The team’s winning entry was a Mindstorm robot they programmed to do specific tasks in a set time limit. The entry was judged on such characteristics as Core Values, Research, and Design. The team has recently overcome some big hurdles, including the death of their dad, coach, mentor, and friend T. J. Wirta only three weeks before the tournament. Dr. Doering was honored to meet and talk with the boys about their interests, accomplishments, and learning.
