Building on the longstanding partnership
between Austin Public Schools (APS) and CEHD, LTML is supporting APS through a district-wide implementation of technology. In spring 2014, APS staff visited LTML
to create a vision for teaching and learning in the district. Beginning in September 2014, APS and LTML staff will meet regularly to learn from each other and turn that vision into a reality. “This multi-year partnership unites theory and practice to inform each others’ work,” shared Dr. Scharber. “The group will learn from each other as we implement new strategies and ideas for technology integration.”
Last year, APS integrated a 1:1 laptop strategy at I. J. Holton Intermediate School, their new STEAM-focused school that serves fifth and sixth graders. This year they expanded 1:1 laptop services to seventh and eighth graders Ellis Middle School. In addition, Austin has added more instructional coaches to support vision for teaching and learning and the integration of technology. LTML staff will work closely with these instructional coaches as they carve out their role at APS and provide additional professional development for educators throughout the district.
