Dr. Angel Pazurek recently traveled to Ecuador to begin exploratory research on the country’s higher education system and the technology infrastructure to support tech integration and online learning. Together with a small group of scholars and graduate students from across the U.S., she toured several university campuses throughout the South American country’s beautiful northern region to meet with administrators, faculty, students, and government leaders. Cross-national dialogue and idea exchange centered on student affairs and the impacts of recent government initiatives aimed at improving the quality of higher education in Ecuador. During the trip she also presented with Dr. Raúl León, an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Eastern Michigan University and a native of the capital city of Quito, at Symposio: Mejorando la Calidad de la Educación Superior
(Symposium on Improving the Quality of Higher Education). The event was held at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and the title of their collaborative presentation was “Reconceptualizing Online Learning in Higher Education.”
Look for information at the start of the Fall 2014 semester about a talk Pazurek will be presenting at LTML on her visit to Ecuador and perspectives on the intersections of higher education, ICT, and online learning for international development.
