2013 MAGE Summer Institute: Authentic Pedagogy for Integrating Instructional Technology, the Common Core Standards and the New Minnesota Academic Standards for Geography
This professional development program for 6th – 12th grade teachers is designed to enable teachers to successfully implement authentic pedagogy and advanced Geography content into social studies classrooms. Participants in this institute will integrate reading, writing, and instructional geotechnology into lessons focused on the New Minnesota Academic Standards for Geography.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Grades 6-12 geography teachers, who are excited about learning advanced geography content and skills, applications in geotechnologies, and willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm with their colleagues are invited to apply!
Daily sessions will engage participants in action-based learning activities, including geospatial technologies, lectures, discussions, tutorials, and workshop sessions.
Grades 6-12 teachers, including those who have completed previous MAGE institutes and/or workshops are eligible for this institute.

Note: All participants will be encouraged to attend two one-day workshops in the fall and selected online activities.

Cost – FREE
Actually, we pay you to attend! All participants receive a $30 per-day stipend, lunch provided daily, AND 2 semester graduate credits from Macalester College (or equivalent CEUs) upon completion of all program requirements.
Six room/board or mileage reimbursement scholarships are available for teachers who live outside a forty mile radius of Macalester College. This will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
