To introduce students to the geospatial tools and skills that will be required for many high-demand jobs of the future, Minnesota through a partnership of organizations and individuals have negotiated a statewide license for ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

Minnesota Center for Social Studies Education

The Center for Social Studies Education (CSSE) is a project sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education and hosted by the Minnesota Historical Society. In 2009, a social studies clearinghouse was created for Minnesota educators, to provide information about the social studies and assist teachers in meeting the state social studies standards. The Minnesota Historical Society, a nonprofit institution charged with collecting and preserving Minnesota history, hosts the CSSE and seeks to provide the most up-to-date social studies information on the CSSE website, in cooperation with other social studies organizations in Minnesota: the Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education, the Minnesota Council for Economic Education, the Learning, Law and Democracy Foundation, and the Minnesota Council for the Social Studies.
